श्री कृष्ण गोविन्द हरे मुरारे
हे नाथ नारायण वासुदेव ।
जिह्वे पिबस्वामृतमेतदेव
गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ 1 ॥
हे मेरी जिह्वा, तू सदैव इन्ही नामों का अमृतमय रसपान करती रह – श्रीकृष्ण, गोविन्द, हरि, मुरारी, हे नाथ, नारायण, वासुदेव, दामोदर, माधव।
O tongue, drink only this nectar (of the names), “Shri Krishna, Govinda, Hari, Murari, O Lord, Narayana, Vasudeva, Damodara, and Madhava.”
विक्रेतुकामाखिलगोपकन्या
मुरारिपादार्पितचित्तवृत्तिः ।
दध्यादिकं मोहवशादवोचत्
गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ 2 ॥
कोई गोपिका दूध, दही, माखन बेचने की इच्छा से घर से चली तो है, किन्तु उसका चित्त मुरारि के चरणारविन्द में इस प्रकार समर्पित हो गया है कि प्रेम वश अपनी सुध–बुध भूलकर “दही लो दही” के स्थान पर गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव पुकारने लगी है।
Though desiring to sell milk, dahi, butter, etc., the mind of a young gopi was so absorbed in the lotus feet of Krishna that instead of calling out “Curd for sale,” she bewilderedly said, “Govinda!”, “Damodara!”, “Madhava!”
गृहे गृहे गोपवधूकदम्बाः
सर्वे मिलित्वा समवाप्य योगम् ।
पुण्यानि नामानि पठन्ति नित्यं
गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ 3 ॥
घर–घर में गोपिकाएँ विभिन्न अवसरों पर एक साथ मिलकर, सदैव श्री कृष्ण के इन्हीं पुण्यमय नामों का स्मरण करती हैं – गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव।
In house after house, groups of cowherd ladies gather on various occasions, and together they always chant the transcendental names of Krishna–“Govinda, Damodara, and Madhava.”
सुखं शयाना निलये निजेऽपि
नामानि विष्णोः प्रवदन्ति मर्त्याः ।
ते निश्चितं तन्मयतां व्रजन्ति
गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ 4 ॥
जो साधारण मनुष्य अपने घर पर आराम करते हुए भी, भगवान विष्णु के इन नामों – गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव – का स्मरण करता है, वह निश्चित रूप से ही, भगवान के स्वरुप को प्राप्त होता है।
Even the ordinary mortals comfortably seated at home who chant the names of Vishnu, “Govinda, Damodara,” and “Madhava,” certainly attain the liberation of having a form similar to that of the Lord.
जिह्वे सदैवं भज सुन्दराणि
नामानि कृष्णस्य मनोहराणि ।
समस्त भक्तार्तिविनाशनानि
गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ 5 ॥
हे जिह्वा, तू भगवान श्री कृष्ण के सुन्दर और मनोहर इन्हीं नामों – गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव – का स्मरण कर, जो भक्तों की समस्त बाधाओं का नाश करने वाले हैं।
O my tongue, just always worship these beautiful, enchanting names of Krishna, “Govinda, Damodara,” and “Madhava,” which destroy all the obstacles of the devotees.
सुखावसाने इदमेव सारं
दुःखावसाने इदमेव ज्ञेयम् ।
देहावसाने इदमेव जाप्यं
गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ 6 ॥
सुख के अन्त में यही सार है, दुःख के अन्त में यही गाने योग्य है, और शरीर का अन्त होने के समय यही जपने योग्य है, हे गोविन्द! हे दामोदर! हे माधव!
This indeed is the essence (found) upon ceasing the affairs of mundane happiness. And this too is to be sung after the cessation of all sufferings. This alone is to be chanted at the time of death of one’s material body–“Govinda, Damodara, Madhava!”
जिह्वे रसज्ञे मधुर-प्रियात्वं
सत्यं हितं त्वां परमं वदामि ।
आवर्णयेता मधुराक्षराणि
गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ 7 ॥
हे जिह्वा, तुझे विभिन्न प्रकार के मिष्ठान प्रिय हैं और तू विभिन्न स्वादों को परखने वाली है। मैं तुझे एक परम् सत्य कहता हूँ, जोकि तेरे परम हित में है। केवल प्रभु के इन्हीं मधुर (मीठे), अमृतमय नामों का रसास्वादन कर, गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव।
O my tongue, you are fond of sweet things and are of discriminating taste; I tell you the highest truth, which is also the most beneficial. Please just recite the sweet divine syllables of“Govinda,” “Damodara,” and “Madhava.”
त्वामेव याचे मम देहि जिह्वे
समागते दण्ड-धरे कृतान्ते ।
वक्तव्यमेवं मधुरं सुभक्त्या
गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ 8 ॥
हे जिह्वा, मेरी तुझसे यही प्रार्थना है कि जब यमराज निकट हों और मेरा अंत समय आ जाये, उस समय सम्पूर्ण भक्ति एवं समर्पण से ये मधुर नाम ही लेना – गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव।
O my tongue, I ask only this of you, that at my meeting the bearer of the sceptre of chastisement (Yamaraja), you will utter this sweet phrase with great devotion: “Govinda, Damodara, Madhava!”
श्रीकृष्ण राधावर गोकुलेश
गोपाल गोवर्धन-नाथ विष्णो ।
जिह्वे पिबस्वामृतमेतदेव
गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ 9 ॥
हे मेरी जिह्वा, तू सदैव इन्ही नामों का अमृतमय रसपान करती रह – श्रीकृष्ण, राधावर, गोकुलेश, गोपाल, गोवर्धन-नाथ, विष्णु, गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव।
O tongue, drink only this nectar (of the names), “Shri Krishna, dearmost of Shrimati Radharani, Lord of Gokula, Gopala, Lord of Govardhana, Vishnu, Govinda, Damodara, and “Madhava”.
